Project Overview
A food manufacturing company in Pakistan required a reliable humidity control solution for its powder mixing and packing area. The production area is used for processing and packing food ingredients such as citric acid, dextrose, and malt extract powder, which are key raw materials for beverage products similar to Milo and Ovaltine.
Due to the hygroscopic characteristics of these powders, excessive humidity can cause problems such as powder absorption, lump formation, poor flowability, contamination risk, and reduced product quality. Therefore, maintaining a stable low-humidity environment was critical for ensuring smooth production and consistent product performance.

Challenges
The main challenge of this project was reducing the indoor humidity from 45–50% RH down to 30% RH while maintaining a stable temperature suitable for food production.
Food powders such as citric acid, dextrose, and malt extract are highly moisture-sensitive materials. Even a small increase in humidity can result in:
- Moisture absorption during mixing and packing
- Powder agglomeration and blocking
- Reduced packaging efficiency
- Shorter product shelf life
- Increased cleaning requirements
In addition, the external environment in Pakistan has high temperature conditions, which increases the moisture load entering the production area.
